I have been lucky to take not one, but two hand embroidery classes from the talented Wendy Schoen. The first one concentrated on shadow work and bullions on Victorian batiste. The second was more surface embroidery work, completed on white linen. I’m especially proud of this little guy:
This was the first thing I ever smocked, completed mostly in airports on the way to and from American Library Association’s Midwinter Conference in Boston, Massachusetts. It is a gorgeous French blue Imperial batiste and Ellen McCarn’s Kelly plate.
This daygown-style christening dress features white swiss batiste fabric with original hand embroidery and ecru tatting. Antique Belgian lace accents the hem. The back closes with sterling silver beauty pins. Slip not pictured.
A sweet bishop for a First Birthday (modeled by my childhood friend, Eukalyptus). This poly/cotton dress will hold up to machine washing and crawling babies. An original smocking design.
These drink coolers were decorated with an original design to match the couple’s Save the Date card.
